CHS Varsity Football Players read to Lakewood Elementary classes in August 2009. They gave out CHAMP (Central High Athletes Maximize Potential) Chips to Explorers who have demonstrated outstanding character and work ethic during the first two weeks of school. |

Central High School NJROTC conducted flag training for students at Lakewood Elementary and Ridgecrest Elementary in August. The cadets instructed students on the proper way to raise and lower the American and State flag in front of their schools and demonstrated how to correctly fold the flags. The training is very valuable and demonstrates pride and patriotism |

Central High School NJROTC offered discipline training for the Golden Ambassadors at Meadowlane Elementary School September 9, 2009. The cadets talked to the young men about staying focused, bullying, maintaining good grades and setting long and short term goals. |

On September 17, 2009 an I-beam from the World Trade Center arrived at the National Infantry Museum, accompanied by nearly 100 first responder New York firefighters. Central High School Resource Officer Gary Jenkins was a member of the Honorary Color Guard of Phenix City and Columbus police officers at ceremony and Central students, Justin and Jacob Garrett, weekend volunteers at the Infantry Museum who spent the summer conducting tours and youth day camps at the museum, were witnesses of the arrival. |
