One award will be
given in each of the
following categories:

Classroom Teacher of the Year
K-12 Certified ~ Full-time teachers who spend 100% of their time in a regular classroom setting

Specialty Area Teacher of the Year
K-12 Certified ~ Teachers outside of a regular classroom setting

Rookie Teacher of the Year
K-12 Certified ~ New teachers within the first 12 months ever in a certified teaching position

Food Service Employee of the Year
Entire System Classified ~ All Child Nutrition Program personnel

Transportation Employee of the Year
Entire System Classified ~ All Transportation personnel

Maintenance/Custodial Employee of the Year
Entire System Classified ~ All Maintenance and Custodial personnel

Support Employee of the Year
Entire System Classified ~ Support personnel who do not qualify for other support categories

Volunteer of the Year
Entire System ~ Parent, Grandparent, or other Community Member who has volunteered in a school or in the school system on a regular basis during the past 12 months

Community Member of the Year
Entire System ~ Business Leader or other Community Member who has made a significant contribution to a school or the school system during the past 12 months

Partner-In-Education of the Year
Entire System ~ Any Community Business or Organization (not individuals) that has made a significant contribution to a school or the school system during the past 12 months

Administrator of the Year
Entire System Certified ~ Chosen by the Superintendent's Committee from a pool of all Administrative personnel

Elementary Teacher of the Year
K-6 Certified ~ Chosen from the certified teaching categories to represent the system in the Alabama Teacher of the Year program

Secondary Teacher of the Year
7-12 Certified ~ Chosen from the certified teaching categories to represent the system in the Alabama Teacher of the Year program

PLEASE NOTE: Although certain personnel may qualify for two or more categories, candidates may be nominated in only ONE category and from only ONE school each year.
