Central High School Auditorium, 2400 Dobbs Drive, Phenix City, Alabama

Honoring outstanding employees and volunteers from Phenix City Public Schools
The Heart of the Community Awards is not just a teacher of the year recognition program. It is Phenix City's version of the Academy Awards. This program gives us the opportunity to publicly acknowledge our outstanding teachers and also many of our other valuable employees, volunteers and community partners who continually go above and beyond the call of duty for our children. By including nominees from all of our schools in the district, in certified, classified and community-oriented categories, the impact of this awards program is felt throughout our community.

The culmination of this recognition program is the Heart of the Community Awards reception. Our nominees and guests are treated to scrumptious hor d'oeuvres and spectacular entertainment provided by our students. And, of course, we announce a "winner" in each category.

Phenix City Public Schools Community Education Department coordinates this program in cooperation with the Phenix City Education Foundation, an entity separate from our school system. This program gives us the opportunity to spotlight our wonderful staff and volunteers, publicize some of the fantastic student talent we have in this district and inform our community of the educational enrichment opportunities available in our schools because of our foundation.
