Experiments Mrs. Garrett's Students have Performed

Planting Seeds:

Students try their hands at growing a variety of seeds. Some of the seeds were sunflower, chives, and parsley.

Leaf Imprints:

Students make models of fossil imprints, and infer how such imprints are alike and different from the organism that made them.

Oil Spill Cleanup:

Students experiment and time 3 different ways to clean up an oil spill: eyedropper, paper towel, and cotton balls.

Olympic Adaptations:

Students work in groups to measure and record distances for different ways of walking a pretend balance beam: eyes closed or looking straight ahead and head level or tilted (ear to shoulder).

Solution or Suspension:

Students observe and classify suspensions and solutions. They had 4 cups of water. In the different cups they mixed in salt, sugar, ground black pepper, and sugar. They observed which substances dissolved and which ones filtered out.

Growing and Comparing Fungi:

Students grow and compare different species of fungi from a slice of bread, a piece of an orange, and a piece of banana or apple. Students record their observations in their trifold.

Cricket Adaptations:

Students (Michael, Caleb, Johnathan, and Dustin) take a close look at a cricket's body structures, which help it to survive.
