-Brainstorm ideas about the word.

-Write the ideas in the Changing Lives activity book.

-Identify common and proper nouns and capitalize all proper nouns on pages 82-83.

-Solve problems from the Spiral Review and Test Prep transparency and the Problem of the Day. 

-Work on Accelerated Math.

-Review Friday’s work.

-Read and understand word problems by telling in words what is known and what needs to be determined in given word problems on pages 18-19.

-Complete the Accelerated Math exercise, which covers the skills for Mastery Test #3 (Compare and order numbers through the billions). Get parent’s signature on exercise.

-Make a list of several characteristics, adaptations, and needs of birds from Signals of Spring.

-Listen to “It’s a Bird” on page 11 in Signals of Spring as the teacher reads it and take notes.

-Discuss comprehension of “It’s a Bird!”

Tuesday

-Write a rough draft for the Word of the Week in the Changing Lives activity book.

-Form singular possessives correctly on pages 84-85.

-Solve problems from the Spiral Review and Test Prep transparency and the Problem of the Day.

-Work on Accelerated Math.

-Review Monday’s work.

-Review various skills on page 20-21. 

-Take the Mastery Test #3 (Compare and order numbers through the billions).

-View the first part of the Bill Nye called Outer Space:  Way Out There!

-Form plural possessives correctly on pages 86-87.

-Work on Accelerated Math.

-Review Tuesday’s work.

-Compute sums and differences mentally using the Commutative and Associative Properties of Addition, compatible numbers, compensation, and by counting up on pages 22-25.

-Complete the Accelerated Math exercise, which covers the skills for Mastery Test #4 (Compare and order decimals through the thousandths). Get parent’s signature on exercise.

-View the second part of the Bill Nye called Outer Space:  Way Out There!

Thursday

-Proofread your Word of the Week writing to make it flawless.

-Use singular and plural possessives nouns correctly on pages 88-89.

-Solve problems from the Spiral Review and Test Prep transparency and the Problem of the Day.

-Work on Accelerated Math.

-Review Wednesday’s work.

-Round whole numbers through millions and decimals through thousandths on pages 26-27.

-Take the Mastery Test #4 (Compare and order decimals through the thousandths).

Create a web for the vocabulary on space using at least 10 of the following words:  solar system, star systems, planet, inner planets, outer planets, moon phases, crater, illuminate, tides, orbit, axis, gravity, natural satellite, man-made satellite, sonar, laser, space probe, weightlessness, inertia, seasons, constellation, galaxy, nebula, star, radio telescope, Hubble, light telescope, x-ray, radio waves, moon, solar, solar flare, sun, atmosphere, radar, spacecraft, launch, astronaut, shuttle, technology, Astronomical Unit, and black hole.

Friday

-Publish your final copy in the Changing Lives activity book.

(Activities from Changing Lives are given grades in Language as “Other Averages,” which include classwork and homework.)

-Identify and form compound words correctly on pages 92-93.

-Solve problems from the Spiral Review and Test Prep transparency and the Problem of the Day.

-Work on Accelerated Math.

-Review Thursday’s work.

- Use rounding, front-end estimation, and front-end estimation with adjusting to estimate sums and differences of whole numbers and decimals on pages 28-31.

-Complete the Accelerated Math exercise, which covers the skills for Mastery Test #6 (Expanding through the billions). Get parent’s signature on exercise.  Mastery Test on Tuesday.

-Discuss webs in small groups.

-Create a K-W-L chart.

-Create and maintain a scientific journal.

-View the first part Scifiles video called:  The Case of the Galactic Vacation.

-Answer the “What’s Up?” questions.

Lesson plans are subject to change.
