Assignment Sheet for November 1-5, 2004

Monday

-Discuss the Word of the Week:  Thankfulness

-Brainstorm ideas about the word.

-Write the ideas in the Changing Lives activity book.

-Bring in a package of your favorite cookies for the class.  We will be completing writing assignments describing how the cookies taste, smell, look, feel, and sound before, during, and after we eat them.

-Write down all assignments in planner, even if they are completed.

-Get your planner signed by your parent/guardian every night.

-Write in the Daily Writing Composition book:  Dear (your favorite author),

-Go over last week’s work on verbs.

-Take a practice writing assessment by writing for 50 minutes on the writing prompt. Write a 5-paragraph expository essay on your favorite holiday:  Explain at least 3 reasons and give descriptive examples.  Use figurative language and descriptive verbs and adjectives.

-Practice manuscript and cursive handwriting.

-Participate in the Book It Program.

-Study Verbs and Subject-Verb Agreement for the mastery tests on Friday.  (pages 144-173)

-Finish estimation problems from Friday.

-Use variables to write algebraic expressions on pages 100-103 and WB 27.

-Discuss number sentences used to solve word problems.

-Work on Accelerated Math.

-Practice your timetables.

-Complete all workbook pages from 16-31 by Monday.

-Work on your individual Math Online Intervention and Take it to the Net website:  http://www.SFSuccessnet.com

-Identify and describe spheres of the Earth:

-Continue presenting natural hazards.

-Reread the Earth’s Spheres handout and underline or highlight important details.

-Create a graphic organizer of the 4 spheres and list facts.

-Write a paragraph with a main idea and important details about the four Earth’s Spheres that we studied.

-Study for a test about the Earth’s spheres on Tuesday.  Be sure to be able to identify the sphere from brief descriptions.
