Monday

-Discuss the Word of the Week:  Dependability.

-Brainstorm ideas about the word.

-Write in the Daily Writing Composition book: Creativity-Crunching Monster.

-Take a practice writing assessment by writing for 40 minutes on the writing prompt.

-Study Unit 3 on Nouns for a third mastery test that will be given on Thursday.  (common nouns, proper nouns, singular nouns, plural nouns, singular possessive nouns, plural possessive nouns, and compound nouns)

-Solve problems from the Spiral Review and Test Prep transparency and the Problem of the Day.

-Work on Accelerated Math.

-Review Friday’s work:  page 52-53 (1-26)

-Demonstrate knowledge of Expanding Decimals by taking the Mastery Test.

-Study for retake mastery tests on Expanding Whole Numbers and Expanding Decimals on Tuesday.

-Review math concepts from chapter one and other grades on pages 54-55.

-Create a bar graph on the satellites of each of the planets.  Use intervals of 2) 

Title:  Number of Satellites Each Planet Has

x-axis:  Planets (Also, list the planets in order.)

y-axis:  Number of Satellites (interval:  2, 4, 6, etc.)

Color and decorate onto construction paper.

Tuesday

-Write the ideas in the Changing Lives activity book.

-Write a rough draft for the Word of the Week in the Changing Lives activity book.

-Write in the Daily Writing Composition book:  Lessons Learned.

-Identify compound sentences on pages 14-15. 

-Study for Sentences Mastery Test by being able to identify groups of words as sentences, fragments, or run-on sentences.  (Test on Friday)

-Practice cursive handwriting (abc).

-Demonstrate knowledge of Solving Word Problems with Decimals and Money by taking the Mastery Test.

-Study for Mastery Test on Rounding Whole Numbers and Decimals.

-Go to Mission Control and create a Venn Diagram in Word.  (9:30 A.M.)

-Make a list of the planets with a tilt less than 30 degrees using the provided table.

-Make a list of the planets that have satellites.

-Create a Venn Diagram comparing the information.

 

Thursday

-Proofread your Word of the Week writing to make it flawless.

-Write in the Daily Writing Composition book: “Okay, Class.”

-Identify run-one sentences and correctly capitalize and punctuate on pages 18-19.

-Practice cursive handwriting (ghi).

-Demonstrate knowledge of nouns by taking the third noun mastery test.

-Study for Sentences Mastery Test by being able to identify groups of words as sentences, fragments, or run-on sentences.  (Test on Friday)

-Solve problems from the Spiral Review and Test Prep transparency and the Problem of the Day.

-Work on Accelerated Math.

-Review Wednesday’s work.

-Review chapter one concepts on pages 60-61.

-Demonstrate knowledge of Rounding Whole Numbers and Decimals by taking the third Mastery Test.

-Study for Mastery Test on Solving Addition/Subtraction Problems Using Estimation.

-Go to Mission Control and create a Venn Diagram in Word.  (9:30 A.M.)

-Make a list of the planets that are larger than Earth.

-Make a list of the planets with gravity that is greater than 1.

-Make a list of the planets that have satellites.

-Create a Venn Diagram comparing the information.

Friday

-Publish your final copy in the Changing Lives activity book.

(Activities from Changing Lives are given grades in Language as “Other Averages.”

-Write in the Daily Writing Composition book:  “The Year is…”

-Practice cursive handwriting (jkl).

-Demonstrate knowledge of sentences by taking the first test on sentences.

-Share writing pieces during our exploratory time.

-Solve problems from the Spiral Review and Test Prep transparency and the Problem of the Day.

-Work on Accelerated Math.

-Review Thursday’s work.

-Review chapter one concepts on pages 62-63.

-Demonstrate Knowledge of Solving Addition/Subtraction Problems Using Estimation.

-Share information on moon phase collection.

-Read the Weekly Reader called Lord of the Rings.

-Read the Chart of the Planets in the Weekly Reader and answer the 4 questions.
