The Swamp

This swamp land is part of the Florida Everglades. It is home to many lizards, fish, snakes, water birds, and small mammals like opossums, squirrels, and rats. Many other animals live here, too.

The tall plants are called sawgrass and they give protection to animals that hide in them. Other plants grow here, too. There are tall trees growing nearby and lots of water plants.

This habitat stays warm all the time. In fact, you would never even find frost here!

There are laws to keep people from destroying this habitat. It is home to many animals that cannot live anywhere else. This habitat is saved for the animals and plants. People do not build their homes here.
